For 40 years, we have been making your personalised silk ties, warp and weft with care and attention to detail. We can, as with haute couture, "scratch" the lining which can be in silk. For polyester custom ties, we use microfibre, and we take as much care as for a silk tie.

The necktie

A little history of the tie...The tie appeared in France under Louis XIII and Richelieu. During the 30 Years' War in the 17th century, the French asked Croatian mercenaries to come and fight for France. When they arrived, they wore a strip of cloth tied around their necks. It was from this accessory that the tie we know became the Croatian word for tie.In the 1920s, a New York inventor invented the modern tie we know today, by making it diagonally. The tie can be made of jacquard fabric: this loom was developed by Joseph-Marie Jacquard in 1801, and was the first programmable loom using a punch card. It can also be printed.How are RDD Textiles custom ties made?We use different fabrics, natural silk, microfibre polyester, cotton etc. We can also make ties in gold thread or other materials. The manufacturing is mechanical but we have a "handmade" service. All our items are individually wrapped in cello.
